----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------Understanding The Claims Process

The Auto Claims Process

To expedite the claims process, call your insurance carrier directly at the phone number listed above.  Calling your insurance carrier directly eliminates a third party (ISA) which, in turn, speeds up the process and gets your claim settled faster.  A secondary option is to contact ISA (Denton: 940-566-2202; Gainesville: 940-668-7675) or visit one of our locations to report your claim. We will relay the claims information to the proper representatives.  Once you have reported your claim, the insurance company claims associate will contact you as soon as possible.

Important things to remember during the claims process:

  • Take reasonable steps to protect your vehicle from further damage.
  • Make sure to tell the claims specialist where your vehicle is located.
  • Review your policy for specific coverage information.

Claims against you

Should any party allege that the accident was your fault, contact your agent or claim representative. The insurance company will conduct an investigation to assess those allegations.

Subject to the terms and conditions of your policy, The insurance company will pay those claims that you are legally liable to honor.

Injuries to you or other parties to the accident

If you or your passengers are injured in an accident in your vehicle and you have applicable medical payments coverage or personal injury protection coverage, your injury-related bills will be paid in accordance with your coverage, subject to the terms and conditions of your policy.

Auto Liability Coverage may protect you in the event that you damage someone else's property or cause injury to others.

Settlement

The insurance company will pay to repair, replace or the agreed upon actual cash value of your property subject to the terms and conditions of your policy. Check with your agent or claim representative for complete details.

The insurance company may be required to protect your lien holder as to amounts due them. The claim payment may include the name of your lien holder. Be sure to ask your lien holder about their procedure for endorsing your claim payment.

The Homeowners Claims Process

Contact us and report the damage in order to start the process.

  • Look for potential safety risks. Take reasonable steps to correct them.
  • Take reasonable steps to prevent further damage.
  • If the loss is caused by theft, notify the police.
  • If the loss involves a credit card or bank fund transfer card, notify the credit card company or bank immediately.
  • Keep an accurate record of your repair expenditures.
  • Separate items that may be cleaned and/or repaired.
  • Check with your claim representative before you discard any items you plan to claim as damaged.
  • Review your policy for specific coverage information.

After an injury

  • Promptly report it to your agent.
  • Obtain names and addresses of any witnesses.
  • If possible, don't voluntarily make payments, assume obligations or incur expenses, except for emergency first aid at the time of the bodily injury.

Again, once the insurance company has received notice of your claim, a claim representative will contact you as soon as possible.

Major damage may require contractor/engineer inspections.

Some repairs may not be covered unless you purchased a specific endorsement.

Make an inventory of Damage

This inventory should be room-by-room, giving complete descriptions of the damaged property.

Personal Property Form

Following a personal property loss, you will need to provide an inventory of the lost, stolen or damaged items to your Claim Representative. Depending on the company, you may be able to provide the information your Claim Representative needs to settle your Claim by filling out a "Personal Property" form.

This form can often be filled out online or you may print it and complete it by hand. After you complete the form you will need to print it and mail it or fax it to your Claim Representative. Please keep a copy of the completed form for your records.

Please review the instructions for filling out the form usually located on the bottom of the form.

If your home is uninhabitable

  • Find temporary housing for your family (there is no coverage under the flood policy for this expense).
  • If possible, do not enter into any long-term leases until you talk to an insurance company claim representative.
  • Keep all receipts associated with the temporary housing, meals, and other miscellaneous expenses.
  • Payment for expenses that are beyond your normal living expenses may be available depending on the company.

Claims against you

Should any party allege that you or any insured under your policy is responsible for bodily injury or property damage, The insurance company will conduct an investigation to assess those allegations. Subject to the terms and conditions of your policy, the insurance company will adjust those claims in which you may be legally liable.

Settlement

The insurance company will pay to repair or replace your damaged property subject to the terms and conditions of your policy.

Check with your claim representative for complete details.

The claim payment may include name of your mortgage company. If it does, be sure to ask your mortgage company about their procedure for endorsing your claim payment.

This website contains only a general description of coverage, and is not a policy contract. COVERAGE UNDER ANY INSURANCE PRODUCT IS SUBJECT TO TERMS, CONDITIONS AND EXCLUSIONS IN THE ACTUAL POLICY AND VARIES BY CARRIER.
